T-Mobile Released Android 5.0 Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Beginning November 24, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will receive a mandatory software update to software version N910TUVU1ANK4. This update provides Chinese language support. The T-Mobile Free Inflight Texting will not be turned on with this update, it will be available soon.

Check the software version

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Scroll to ‘SYSTEM,’ then tap About device.
  3. Read the Baseband version on the phone, and check it below:
    N910TUVU1ANK4: Your software is up to date. There are no updates available.
    N910TUVU1ANJ7, N910TUVU1ANIH: Your phone can update to software version N910TUVU1ANK4
    Other versions: Your phone has non-T-Mobile software, and it is unsupported.

Requirements to update

  • N910TUVU1ANJ7
  • 50% or higher battery life
  • Wi-Fi connection
  • Available space (File size is 128.37 MB)

Update automatically Over-The-Air (OTA)

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap About device.
  3. Tap Software update.
  4. Tap Ok to check for the update.

Update software from the phone

  1. From the home screen, tap Settings
  2. Tap About device.
  3. Tap Software update.
  4. Tap OK.
  5. Tap Start.
  6. A restart message will appear, tap OK.

Update software from a computer

Installing Kies

  1. Download the most recent version of Kies by visiting http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/ (Select the SAMSUNG Kies version compatible with the PC)
  2. Double click the Kies file. The program will self extract, no action is required
  3. Select the desired Language and Location, then click Next.
  4. Read the license agreement, check the box for “I accept…” and click Next.
  5. Kies will begin the installation. No action is required.
  6. When the process is complete, click Finish.

Prepare the Samsung Galaxy Note 4

  1. From the home screen, tap Settings
  2. Tap Developer options, if available. If not available, skip to step 8.
  3. Tap Ok
  4. Tap USB Debugging
  5. Tap the Home key to exit the settings menu.
  6. Insert the USB data cable into the phone and then into an available port on the computer.
  7. Select Media device(MTP) at the phone prompt. The PC should recognize several devices and begin installation. This is normal and may take a few minutes.
  8. Unplug the data cable when completed.

Update the Samsung Galaxy Note 4

  1. Open the Samsung Kies application.
  2. Allow the application to detect the device and display an available update notification.
  3. Follow the on screen prompts to complete the update.
    Note: Using Samsung Kies to update the device software is support by Samsung. If there are any questions about the update process via Kies, escalate to Samsung for further assistance.
