Beginning December 15, Google Nexus 4 received software update to Android version 5.0.1 / LRX22C available via Over-the-Air (OTA) pull down over Wi-Fi only. This update will be available over cellular network at a later date and provides features and improvements.
Check the software version
- From the Home screen, tap All Apps.
- Tap System.
- Scroll down to ‘SYSTEM,’ and then tap About phone.
- Read the version on the device, and check it below:
LRX22C: Your software is up to date. There are no updates available.
LRX21T, KTU84P, KTU84L, KOT49H, JOP40G, JWR66Y, KRT16S, JWR66V, JDQ39, JOP40D, JOP39B, JVP15Q: Your device can update to software version LRX22C
Other versions: Your device has non-T-Mobile software, and it is unsupported.

- 50% or higher battery life
- Data connection
- Available memory (File size of update: 16.7 MB)
Update software from the device
- From the Home screen, tap All Apps.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap About device.
- Tap Software update.
If you are not connected to Wi-Fi, you may receive a prompt to connect.
If Wi-Fi is not available, tap OK.
If the update is not available, you will receive the message The device is up-to-date. If you receive this message, please wait for your device to receive the update via OTA. - Follow the on-screen prompts.
- Wait as your device restarts and updates to Android version 5.0.1 / Software version LRX22C.
