Now rolling out in public preview, we’re introducing the ability to utilize trainable classifiers in server-side sensitivity auto-labeling policies across key workloads (Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, and OneDrive).
When this will happen
This capability is now rolling out in public preview.
How this will affect your organization
Within the Microsoft Purview compliance portal, we have 15 ready-to-use built-in classifiers (English language) that can be used as a condition in server-side auto-labeling policies to discover and auto-label sensitive content matching these classifiers. More new classifiers are planned to be released shortly.
- Microsoft Purview Information Protection can now use trainable classifiers in server-side sensitivity auto-labeling policies for files and emails in SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Exchange.
- Additionally, Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle Management can use trainable classifiers as a condition in server-side retention policies to detect and automatically apply retention labels on matching sensitive content in SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Exchange.
- Trainable classifiers can also be added to Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention policies, and are supported across all DLP workloads, including SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Exchange, and Endpoint.
Note: Simulation mode is also available for this feature, enabling admins to create a policy utilizing trainable classifiers, run and review the results of the simulation, and then turn on the policy.
What you need to do to prepare
To view available trainable classifiers, go to Microsoft Purview compliance portal > Data classification > Trainable classifiers. You can begin using available classifiers within your policy configuration workflows for Microsoft Purview solutions including Information Protection, Data Lifecycle Management, and Data Loss Prevention.
