Updated March 22, 2022: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
We are bringing back the Coming Soon option to preview the new location for the Mail, Calendar, People, Tasks, and other modules in Outlook for Windows. This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 68205.
Outlook for Windows: New location for key Outlook modules and integration with other Microsoft 365 apps
The main modules in Outlook such as email, calendar, tasks and people are moving to the left of the folder pane. We are also adding a way for users to quickly access To Do, OrgExplorer, Yammer Communities, and Bookings directly inside Outlook. You can customize by pinning preferred Outlook and Microsoft 365 apps. This change can be previewed with the return of the Coming Soon toggle.
When this will happen
Table of Contents
Current Channel: will roll out in mid-November and be complete in mid-April (previously mid-March).
How this will affect your organization
The Coming Soon option will allow users to toggle on the new experience at their convenience.
Once turned on, the Mail, Calendar, People, Tasks and other modules will move from the bottom of the folder pane to the left side of the folder pane in Outlook for Windows. This new user experience will also provide quick access to additional Microsoft 365 applications such as To Do, Yammer, Bookings, Org Explorer, and open them directly from Outlook’s main canvas. Users will be able to customize which apps show in this location by pinning their favorite apps.
What you need to do to prepare
We encourage the people in your company to try the experience in the coming weeks and provide feedback through the Coming Soon pane. If you do not want your users to try this experience, you can manage the Coming Soon option through Turn off Coming Soon for your organization.
