Volvo Cars has announced that introducing Microsoft Skype for Business to 90 Series models car: Volvo S90 Sedan, V90 Cross Country and XC90 SUV, claimed to be the first automaker has included Microsoft productivity software in a vehicle. The inclusion of Skype for Business is being pitched as an easier way to take a group conference call while driving. Volvo will explore the possibilities of using Microsoft’s Cortana too.
We’ve all been there. Sitting in the car trying to join a group conference call. You either fumble with or drop your phone while trying to connect or you forget the long pin code to join, It’s not the best way to start an important call in the car. On top of all that your attention is not where it should be – on the road. With the addition of Skype for Business all that goes away.
Volvo Vice President Consumer Connectivity Services Anders Tylman-Mikiewicz said in a statement, Volvo Car Group Press Release: Volvo Cars adds Microsoft’s Skype for Business to its 90 Series cars, heralding a new era for in-car productivity
This integration allows drivers to view their upcoming meetings and participant details as well as join group conference calls via single touch on shortcut seen on the large in-car center console infotainment sensus touchscreen without the need to enter a pin code to join a call. All this without reaching for their smartphones.
Volvo Cars is leading the way in its recognition that the nature of work is increasingly mobile. People need to be productive from anywhere – including their cars, We’re thrilled to extend modern meetings to Volvo cars.
