Summer Games Done Quick 2017 (SGDQ2017) live on Twitch start from yesterday until sometime in the early morning hours of July 9. Hundreds of speedrunners attempting to beat their favorite video games as fast as possible setup at the Marriott City Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but also to raise money for Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières). Roughly 28 hours since SGDQ 2017 got underway, more than 162,000 people are watching the marathon on Twitch and viewers have already donated $184,917.
Twitch.tv announced two-year deal with Activision Blizzard Entertainment to become the exclusive third-party streaming outlet for more than 20 live eSports competitions featuring popular games made by Blizzard Entertainment including Overwatch, Hearthstone, StarCraft and World of Warcraft through 2018. Twitch.tv users with Amazon Prime receive their own perks, including free game-related merchandise.
