Chrome OS Update 39.0.2171.85 with Chromecast Support for Media


Google started rolling out an update for stable channel of Chrome OS to all Chrome OS devices except the Dell Chromebook 11, HP Chromebook 14, Acer C720 and the Toshiba Chromebook. The update build number is version 39.0.2171.85 (Platform version: 6310.48.0). This build contains number of bug fixes, security updates and feature enhancements.

The biggest feature for Chrome OS users is the addition of Chromecast support for media files stored in Google Drive. When viewing media file in Google Drive, Chromecast icon will appear allowing users to easily and quickly beam that content to their TV.

In addition to Google Drive Chromecast support, this update also adds the ability to display apps installed in Google Drive directly in Chrome OS launcher. Google says the update contains a variety of other bug fixes and security enhancements.
